Living in Loveland is like going on a holiday every day of the year. With its amazing location on the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the city is an outdoor wonderland whether in winter or summer. It also boasts a wonderful arts and culture scene and a happening downtown with fantastic shopping and dining options.

Here’s our list of some of the things you simply must experience in the city.

    Have a magical holiday season

The holidays are extra special in Loveland. The streets and stores are lit up with festive lights and décor, and shops and restaurants offer great discounts and promos. Santa encounters are lined up, as well as hockey games, horse-drawn carriage rides, and a host of shows and events. This year, the first ever Winter Wonderlights festival will be staged and will run from November 8 to January 7, 2018, at the Chapungu Sculpture Park.

Send a special Valentine to your significant other

Loveland is known as the “Sweetheart City” because of its popular Valentine Re-Mailing Program. Every year, thousands of love-struck individuals send their pre-addressed valentines to Loveland, where volunteers stamp them with special verses and mail them to the intended recipients around the globe.

    Play golf

Golf is one of the favorite activities in Loveland all year round. The city is home to three top-rated public golf courses, showcasing the area’s stunning natural scenery and offering unique challenges to suit players of all ages and skill levels.

    Visit the Loveland Museum Gallery

Loveland is among the top art communities in the United States, and this museum is one reason why. Founded in 1937, the Loveland Gallery Museum is one of only 5% of museums in the country that have been accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. It features three art galleries with exhibits that change every 8 to 12 weeks, as well as several permanent history exhibits.

    Be amazed by sculpture exhibits

All around the city are amazing sculptures by various artists, exhibited as part of the Art in Public Places program. Benson Sculpture Garden is a must visit for all tourists and locals. Its permanent exhibit of 148 bronze sculptures is set in a beautiful park with the Rocky Mountains in the background. The garden is also the site of the annual Sculpture in the Park show participated in by over a hundred artists and showcasing over 2,000 sculpture pieces.

Relax at the city’s scenic parks and recreation centers

Loveland has 31 city parks and 28 natural areas where you can enjoy miles of recreational trails for hiking, riding and biking, as well as bird and wildlife watching. There are also a number of recreation and community centers for all ages.

Put your fishing skills to a test

Summer is the perfect time for fly fishing in Loveland. You’ll find plenty of lakes and still water around the city where the fishing is great. The nearby Big Thompson River, which flows from the Rocky Mountains, also offers fantastic fishing spots.
